Theatrical Consultant

Biography in Brief

dbPix  After 37 years as a designer, consultant and manager in theatre, dance, event and TV productions I'm still enjoying the creative process.

My career began in New York back in the mid 70's as a stage manager at theatres like Equity Library Theatre and the Cubiculo Theatre.

On larger productions, such as Lincoln Center's Out-of-Doors Series and "Fashion Week" in Manhattan which became more technically sophisticated during the 80's, I was able to combine my knowledge of lighting design and managerial skills.

On Broadway, I first worked as a stagehand at the Princess and Gershwin Theatres and then as a stage manager and production supervisor at the Minskoff and Helen Hayes Theatres.

Some of my TV work includes Geraldo Rivera's syndicated program at Times Square Studios and CBS-TV's Kate & Allie at the Ed Sullivan Theatre. I was also the art director for Tina Turner on a PBS-TV pilot called "Woofer's Supersonic City".

I regularly toured with dance companies like the Bolshoi, Kirov, St. Petersburg Ballet, Dance Theatre of Harlem, the Chinese Acrobats and Magicians of Taiwan, plus the occasional national tour.

In Brazil, I write and lecture on lighting design for theatre, dance and television. And I am designing and consulting on architectural lighting projects. I'll be uploading some photos from two recent projects soon.
