My career began in the mid 1970's, on New York's Off-Broadway at Equity Library Theatre and the Cubiculo Theatre as a stage manager and lighting designer.

Then larger productions like Lincoln Center's Out-of-Doors Series and "Fashion Week" in Manhattan, which developed and grew during the 80's, sharpened my skills as a production manager while allowing me the freedom to experiment more with lighting design.

From there I moved up to Broadway; first as a stagehand at the Princess and Gershwin Theatres and later as a stage manager and production supervisor at the Helen Hayes Theatre.

In between my New York work, I frequently toured with dance companies like the Bolshoi, Kirov, St. Petersburg Ballet, Dance Theatre of Harlem, Chinese Acrobats and Magicians of Taiwan and even the Bayanihan, Philippine Dance Company.

I've been writing and lecturing in Brazil on lighting design for theatre, dance and television since 2007. I also design and create projects there as a production manager and architectural lighting designer.

My last article for 2011 in Revista Backstage brought you back to Broadway and the new musical, Spiderman, Turn Off the Dark. It will be available to read on this site by the end of February.

I am completing work on an architectural lighting project for the First Baptist Church of Rio de Janeiro. As soon as the lighting installation begins, I will update my site with photos and portions of the plans.
